Takayama Inari Shrine
The Vermilion Path Connecting Gods and People: "Senbon Torii"
Located in Tsugaru, this revered shrine is dedicated to the deities of abundant harvests, maritime safety, and prosperous business, with 2026 marking the Year of the Horse, a zodiac year closely associated with the Inari deity. The "Senbon Torii" offering tradition, begun in 1980, has grown to more than 270 torii gates following renovations carried out as part of the Reiwa Imperial Accession commemorative project. Seasonal scenery created by the rows of vermilion torii and surrounding nature continues to draw visitors throughout the year, while hydrangeas and water lilies from June to July add cool tones across the shrine grounds. Overnight stays are also available at the Sanshuden hall for worshippers receiving prayer services.
