A Sanctuary of Healing and Prayer Nestled in the City

"Ikune Shrine" is located approximately a 3-minute walk from Osaka Metro Tamade Station. The deities enshrined here are "Sukunahikona no Mikoto," "Hiruji no Mikoto," and "Sugawara no Michizane," who are said to have divine virtues that protect health, prosperous business, and academic success. Every year during the summer festival, a one-of-a-kind cultural asset called "Digaku" is displayed on the grounds. On the winter solstice, "Kotsuma Pumpkin" is given to the shrine, and many people visit to seek blessings for good health.

Summer Festival Showcasing the Cultural Property "Daigaku"

During the summer festival held annually on July 24 and 25, the "Daigaku," designated as Osaka Prefecture’s first tangible folk cultural property and measuring about 20 meters in height and 4 tons in weight, is displayed within the shrine grounds, where prayers are offered for a bountiful harvest and household safety. In the evening, men and women carry two "Daigaku" structures in a nearby park.
